Sylvia Andrade has been a nurse for 30 years and recently obtained her Masters in Science Degree in Health Systems,Leadership and Administration.She is currently one of the Hospital Nursing Supervisor at UCSF Medical Center.Prior to this she was the Patient Care Manager of an Acute Medicine Unit and ICU at UCSF Mt Zion campus.She was also one of the Assistant Patient Care Manager of Neuro Intensive Unit at UCSF Parnassus campus.
Her clinical background includes 20 plus years of critical care nursing in cardiac,medical,surgical,trauma and neuro intensive care units.She started her critical care years in New York and then moved in California.Sylvia is a strong advocate for patient safety and has participated in IHI,5 Million Lives campaign.Her work before includes improving hand off among clinicians and charge nurse rounding to name the few.
Sylvia is the UCSF Nurse Ambassador for California Transplant Donor Network and has participated in five breakthrough collaboratives.She is a recipient of Medal of Honor for Organ Donation at UCSF.
Her accomplishments include successful opening of new nursing units and participated in designing the 14 bed adult ICU for UCSF Women and Children Hospital at Mission Bay.
Sylvia graduated with a BSN from Concordia College in the Philippines in 1980;and MS in Health Systems,Leadership and Administration from UCSF School of Nursing in June 2010.
