Our Work

As an active part of one of the nation’s leading academic health centers, the Center for the Health Professions at the University of California, San Francisco focuses its efforts on understanding the challenges faced by the health care workforce and developing programs and resources that assist in making successful transitions to the emergent health care systems.

The Center for the Health Professions’ programs and projects traverse a wide array of disciplines from biomedical research to community leadership. Our programs are supported by private and public sources, including the Arkay Foundation, California HealthCare Foundation, The California Endowment, Corporation for National Service, Helene Fuld Health Trust, The Pew Charitable Trusts, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, and U.S. Bureau of Health Professions.

The Center’s programs address a range of issues that impact the health care system and workforce both in California and nationwide. These issues include supply and distribution; skills and training; cultural competency and diversity; and leadership, partnership and vision.
