Projects and Publications

To explore, promote and advance reforms affecting California's health care workforce, projects of the California Workforce Initiative use different approaches to inform changes in health policy and health care delivery systems. Although projects vary in their emphasis and approach, the overarching mission of the CWI guides efforts towards one aim - supporting policy reforms and work-related improvements that enhance the work of California health care professionals, thus improving care for all Californians.

Health Professions Issue Briefs
These issue briefs – each one 4 to 8 pages long – provide current workforce and educational data about a particular health professional issue, profession or set of professions, including related key issues and policy concerns. Specific topics addressed include: workforce supply, demand, distribution, and demographics; practice patterns; education and training; and regulation and certification:
